Intro to the importance of Irish – and all indigenous – mythology​

“Which God Are You?” multiple-choice quiz – we do this as a group, and it’s a chance for the children to be giddy

Discussion time: Usually, the children tell me their preferred god-powers. Then I flick through a slideshow of illustrations from both books, matching each child with an Irish god who has their chosen power

Script plays: Here, the children act out short scripts based on my stories. I have script plays for eight different stories – each requiring 3–4 actors – so I can run this with a group of approx. 32. The children practise their script and perform for each other. We vote on Best Actor and Best Actress, who each get to take home a copy of the book

Halloween-Themed Workshop

Intro to Irish mythology – with emphasis on its ties to Halloween – including a short slideshow of imagery, ranging from pagan gods to carved turnips

Spooky story reading from my books

Fortune-telling game: Children are grouped and given a tray of traditional Irish fortune-telling items – such as a coin for future wealth, a ring for marriage, water for overseas travel, etc. Each child takes a turn wearing the blindfold and choosing their fate. All predictions will be child-appropriate and positive

For extended-length events: Dress-up competition with prizes
